These are all the reasons why VO, in my opinion, is one of the greatest space mmo's of all time. This shows they really do care a lot about the player community and what they think. I've chatted with the games creator myself a few times. They even answer their own support tickets. It's not uncommon to see the Dev's pop in on chat and talk with the players. What's most unique and what I love about VO is how passionate and dedicated the Developers and the player base community is about this game. There's even a website repository of many popular plugins anyone can download for free to enhance game experience. VO allows players to create their own plugins for the game. A skilled f2p player flying a basic ship can easily overtake a subbed player with superior ship and weapons due to the complex battle physics. There's no way to buy your way to the top. Skill is always the major factor in battles.
Though you do need to pay a subscription fee to enjoy everything the game has to offer, it's not a pay to win game by any means.
It can be grindy but extremely rewarding. What you do in VO is your choice, be a pirate, trader, miner or explorer. Has everything, very large sandbox universe to explore, exciting combat, asteroid mining, dynamic trade economy and many missions with great story lines.
